If you are seeking solitude, the quietness is perfect for a good book, where rest and relaxation comes easy.
In winter there is plenty of fun and beauty as well... Nordic and alpine skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling. 
Horseback riding is available a short distance away, as well as whitewater rafting. Many trails will take the hiker into mountain lakes or mountain peaks.
