In this part of Montana, wildlife abounds - including elk, deer, coyote, bear, wolf, moose, eagle, mountain lion and mountain sheep. Spring and winter are when we see the greatest number of wildlife up close, however, autumn is a lovely time to take hikes to the higher country to see, not only the colors that are displayed by the works of the frost, but to see elk, deer and moose during the mating season and often hear the wonderful calls that they each make in trying to lure the females! Several of our guests have had the thrill of hearing wolves howl and elk bugling just up from the cabin when all is so quiet at night that the sound of your own breathing is the only noise.
